Why "Spider Man the Great web" Game Was Cancelled?

A trailer for a Spider-Man multiplayer video game titled The Great Web, that where up to 5 heroes can be used at the same time, has been leaked, unfortunately it was cancelled but why!? 

"Insomniac Games" the developers behind the successful Spider-Man games for PlayStation, suffered a massive leak that revealed information about in-development, upcoming, and scrapped projects.

Among them was The Great Web, an ambitious multiplayer spin-off that promised a unique adventure in the universe of Spider-Man and Marvel, Now we can see these images that have left us shocked, since it would have been a unique cooperative experience.

 What can we see in the trailer?

The trailer, although at an early conceptual stage, gives us an intriguing glimpse into what The Great Web could have been. Using a mix of cinematic and gameplay footage, we see up to five players exploring New York City, fighting common enemies and taking on the Sinister Six in exciting team combos.

Playable characters:

• Spider-Man 2099
• Spider-Gwen
• Silk
• Ben Reilly
• Miles Morales

Each of them with different costume designs to personalize the experience. There is even a glimpse of a possible confrontation against Venom, although it is not clear if he would be a boss or a playable character.

Why was it cancelled?

The reasons behind the cancellation of The Great Web are still a mystery, There is speculation that Insomniac Games may have decided to focus on other projects, such as Spider-Man 2, its upcoming DLC, a rumored Venom spin-off, and even an eventual Spider-Man 3 (rumored to be a two-parter).

It is inevitable to feel some disappointment knowing that we will never be able to play this multiplayer title, especially given the possibility of playing as characters like Spider-Gwen and Silk. Although Silk is expected to appear in a future installment of the main series, Gwen Stacy's future in the Insomniac universe seems uncertain along with this multiverse project.

In any case, we must not lose hope that at some point they will resume the project, since it seems spectacular.

Since, it would be a joy to be able to swing around New York and live the experience of being a hero with your friends. Although it must be recognized that the current Spider-Man video games are good enough not to miss a multiplayer mode.
